Events

Each year, the Department of Political Science hosts several events to build a social and intellectual community among students, staff, and faculty. The academic year kicks off with an Ice Cream Social and Open House.  Brown Bag Lunches throughout the fall and spring semesters give students and faculty the opportunity to share ongoing research, while faculty often convene teach-ins to discuss emerging political events.

In the spring semester, Life after UR welcomes alumni back to campus to share with current majors how they have used the knowledge and skills they learned through their political science courses in their professional lives. The academic year closes with events to celebrate the achievements of the Department’s students: the ceremony to induct students into Pi Sigma Alpha, a thesis defense and reception to recognize honors students, and the reception to celebrate graduating seniors.

Students who declare a major in political science are added to the major’s listserv, which keeps them updated on Department events and announcements.
